Sandra Iorio was admitted to the Bars of Illinois, Wisconsin, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and Eastern District of Wisconsin in 1994. She was a judicial clerk for the Hon. Jennifer Duncan-Brice, who presided over an individual calendar in the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, prior to starting her litigation career. Ms. Iorio practices in the areas of medical malpractice, medical device litigation, general civil litigation and commercial litigation. She has represented clients in the state and federal court system in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana, and South Dakota, as well as before the Illinois Department of Human Rights, City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations, Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Responsibility and the Social Security Administration. She has successfully tried cases to verdict involving allegations of medical negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and oppression of a minority shareholder. In addition to litigating in-suit claims, Ms. Iorio frequently conducts pre-suit investigations for health-care institutions, and advises on risk management issues.
Ms. Iorio has spoken to many groups of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals about medical negligence litigation, documentation, communication, depositions, the electronic medical record, and privacy issues, as well as presenting mock trial presentations to audiences.
She has been selected as a Leading Lawyer for civil defense and medical malpractice defense annually since 2014. She was selected as one of the Top Women Lawyers in Chicago in 2018, and was previously selected as one of the “40 Under 40” attorneys to watch in Illinois. She graduated from Marquette University in 1991, Delta Phi Alpha, and received her J.D. from Marquette University cum laude in 1994, where she was awarded the American Jurisprudence Awards for Federal Courts and Conflict of Laws.
