Mark J. Lura – Long-Term Care Litigation
Mark J. Lura was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1986 and now concentrates his practice of law in the areas of Medical Malpractice Litigation, Hospital Liability Defense and Nursing Home Negligence. Mr. Lura was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Lincoln Christian College in 1974. Mr. Lura received his M.Div., cum laude, from Lincoln Christian Seminary in 1978, and received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, with distinction, in 1986. Following graduation, Mr. Lura clerked for the Honorable Harry D. Strouse, Jr., and the Honorable Lawrence D. Inglis of the Illinois Second District Appellate Court.
Mr. Lura has tried numerous cases to verdict. All have been in Cook County and have been medical malpractice cases. These trials have primarily been cases involving catastrophic injury. Since 2005, Mr. Lura has been named a Super Lawyer in Illinois in the area of Professional Liability: Defense. Super Lawyers are the top 5 percent of attorneys in each state, as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics. He carries the highest rating of AV from Martindale and Hubbell and is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Society which requires extensive trial experience for membership. In 2013, Mr. Lura was inducted as a Fellow into the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. The American College of Trial Lawyers is an invitation only fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds from the United States and Canada. The College thoroughly investigates each nominee for admission and selects only those who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality. Finally, he has been selected for inclusion by the Leading Lawyers Network since 2010. The Leading Lawyers Network is comprised of the nation’s top lawyers based upon a survey of their peers. Mr. Lura is a member of the American Bar Assoication.
Further distinctions include: Recipient, West Publishing Company Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. He was the author of "Res Ipsa Loquitur," Medical Malpractice, Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, 1989; and "Charting in the '90s," Podiatry Products, Vol. 1:6, 1991.
