Jason A. Parson – Medical Malpractice
In addition to defending all manner of medical malpractice lawsuits, he has represented healthcare providers in matters alleging ERISA, COBRA, RICO, Antitrust, and Title VII violations, as well as against claims of Conspiracy, Fraud, Defamation, and Negligent Privileging. He has also defended class actions for medical monitoring against both hospitals and physician researchers.
Additionally, Mr. Parson has defended numerous lawsuits arising out of the modification, revocation, or denial of physician staff privileges. He has represented hospitals, medical staff, and individual physicians in staff privilege disputes and has served both as a hearing officer as well as counsel to appellate committees. Mr. Parson counsels hospitals regarding their procedures for conducting peer review and credentialing investigations, resolving/adjudicating disputes regarding staff privileging matters, and appealing adverse credentialing decisions as well as other counseling matters.
Mr. Parson has extensive experience in the representation of physicians before the Disciplinary Board of the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation and the Licensing Board of the IDF&PR and has made presentations regarding practice before the IDF&PR. Similarly, he has represented providers before the Illinois Department of Health Care & Family Services (f/k/a the Dept. of Public Aid) during the course of audits, in vendor hearings, and at Quality of Care review hearings. In addition, he has represented providers in Medicaid decertification proceedings and United States Department of Justice investigations pursuant to the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
Mr. Parson received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1988, where he served as Editor-In-Chief of the Washington University Law Quarterly. From 1988 through 1990, he served as law clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
